Scarsdale Golf Club was formed May 31, 1898. The Club provides its members with a competitive and challenging 18-hole Tillinghast golf course (slope 133, rating 71). Many people believe A.W. Tillinghast to have been the most artistic of all golf architects practicing in this country, asserting that the aesthetics and the poetry of his courses surpass those of all other architects.

"Scarsdale's infamous 450 yard, par-four 14th hole” is considered one of the Metro area's “18 most terrifying holes” and “is impossible to par deliberately (accidentally is a different matter)… a tee shot to the crest of a hill. From there it plunges downhill, with trees and huge rocks all over the place and jail left and right, to a green that is about the size of a beach towel and which has sharp drop-offs at the back and sides.”
