Paul Reiser '77
Paul Reiser earned his bachelor of fine arts with a major in piano
and composition in 1977. After pursuing a career as a stand-up
comedian, Reiser made his feature film debut in Diner in
1982 and later had roles in movies including Beverly Hills
Cop, Aliens, Crazy People and Bye, Bye Love.
In 1992, he began his most famous role to date as Paul Buchman
in the award-winning NBC series Mad About You. A co-creator
of the series, Reiser also served as executive producer and writer,
and co-wrote the show's theme song. An accomplished pianist, he
has been invited to perform at university campuses and with philharmonic
orchestras. He is also the author of two bestsellers, Couplehood
(1994) and babyhood (1997). In 1996, Reiser established
the Samuel Reiser Scholarship at Binghamton University in honor
of his father. He is Honorary Co-Chair of the University's Comprehensive
Gifts Campaign.
Shari Lawrence
Pfleeger '70
Shari Lawrence Pfleeger, who researches effective ways to evaluate
the impact of new software technologies on products and processes,
received her BA in mathematical sciences from Binghamton University
in 1970. She then went on to earn her MA in math and MS in planning
from Pennsylvania State University and her PhD in information
technology and engineering from George Mason University. An advocate
for women's employment and education at the national level, Pfleeger
is currently both a visiting faculty member at the University
of Maryland's Computer Science Department and President of Systems/Software,
Inc., a consulting firm specializing in software engineering and
technology. She has repeatedly been named by the Journal of
Systems and Software as one of the world's top software engineering
researchers.
Frederick L.
Kennedy '50
Frederick Kennedy graduated from Triple Cities College (later
Harpur College) with a BA in History in 1950. He taught history
at Union-Endicott High School for 26 years. Kennedy currently
serves as a member of the Binghamton University Alumni Association
Board of Directors. He also supports and extends his talents to
the University Athletic Club where he served as a board member
and ex-officer. In addition to supporting University activities,
Kennedy spends his time volunteering with other charitable and
civic groups.
